Frequently Asked Questions
Q: My windows have a foggy look to them. Can you fix this? A: Unfortunately this is a
problem with the seals in your windows and either the Glass or the Sash will need to be replaced.
Q: I have New Windows and they are Scratched. Can you fix this? A: No, This is
something you need to take up with your builder or installer. I see this All The Time where while during the building process,
the builder doesn't require their contractors to cover the windows. The windows go through the whole building process
without any protection from, Mortar, Slag, sparks from grinders or saws, Paint, Spackle and everything that happens
during construction. The windows are installed in the beginning of the building process. However, there are National Companies
who do repair Scratched Windows but, it is Very Expensive . It is in most cases, it's Cheaper to replace the windows.
Q: I just had my house painted and now I can't open the windows. Can you fix this? A: Absolutely.
If your window opened Before the home was painted, I can get them to open again. However, I would recommend you contact your
painter and request they come back and free them up. If the windows are not stuck to the point to where I have to cut them
free, I usually don't charge to get them open. But I am not responsible for paint lifting from the tracks, Sashes or the sills.
Q: I just had my home painted and there are paint specks and brush marks on the windows. Do you charge extra to remove
it? A: In most cases, if it isn't Real Bad, I Don't charge to remove a small amount of paint.
I remove most paint specks and small brush marks from the windows during the Basic Cleaning process. I offer several different
levels of cleaning. From the Basic Cleaning, to the Premium Cleaning.
Q: I have windows that I cant latch. This is a older home and has been painted many times. I can't seem to get the
sashed to align so they will latch. Can you fix them? A: Unfortunately in most cases, No.
Many times it's the upper sash that has dropped over the years and has been sealed by layers of paint and to free them
up, would be almost impossible. I would suggest you speak to a painter who specializes in the removal of old paint. If this
isn't an option you can afford, there are other way to secure your windows. I do recommend that the lower sashes are able
to be opened for emergency reasons.(Exits) Most times, I Can free up the lower sashes.
Q: The last time I had my windows professionally cleaned, They still had what looked like a haze on
them. What is this and can it be taken off? A: I can only guess as to your problem. I would
say you have a build up from the elements of the environment and it's called Type 1 Corrosion. This my be caused
by Sprinklers, Acid Rain, roof shingles run off, not cleaning them often enough, road film and several other things. I also
see this on many Old Historic Homes with poured glass. Also, Screens are a windows Worst Enemy if not cleaned regularly. If
you add Sprinklers spraying on Dirty Screens then onto the windows, You have a recipe for a problem. In most cases, I Can
Remove these stains. While in some cases, the stains will not completely come off with the first cleaning. This is also costly
to clean off depending on the severity of the stains.
Q: What do you use to clean windows? A: All of my cleaning supplies
are Biodegradable, Environmentally Friendly and will not harm People, Plants, or Pets. Whether I'm cleaning your windows,
or cleaning your siding and gutters, There is nothing used that will harm anything.
Q: What do you recommend for me to use between cleanings? A: I tell
people to use the best cleaner they can find with a good quality paper towel (lint free). I can't say one is better than
the other but, there are some. I don't recommend buying off brands or generic brands as they seem to streak more and most
times aren't going to clean things like, hand prints, pet nose prints, food particles, and others.
Q: I saw a window cleaner cleaning the windows at my local grocery store the other day and he was
using paper towels to dry the bottom of the window. What brand paper towel do you recommend? A: Well,
let me put it to you like this. If you have a "Window Cleaner" who uses paper towels, You don't have a Professional
Window Cleaner. Real "Professional Window Cleaners" will use a lint free 100% cotton towel or something similar.
They will towel All Edges, not just the bottom. There are Many so called professional Window Cleaners out there who do a horrible
job. Just look at many of your major grocery chains and gas stations. There are some companies out there who only do commercial
windows and they strive to do good work and take pride in that work. And it shows. So I don't recommend using paper
towels for any window cleaning other than touch ups here and there.
Q: Do you clean Store fronts. And how often should the windows be cleaned? A: While I Specialize in Residential Window Cleaning, I do have some Commercial Customers. I in most cases, just don't
have the time to take on many Commercial Customers due to my obligations to home owners and builders. I do accept new commercial
Customers from time to time. For All my Restaurant Customers, I recommend 2 times a month (every other week). Some want cleaned
every week. For my Retail Stores, I clean them once a month.
Q: How do you clean gutters and siding? A: Most cases I use a Low Pressure
Wash with a mild detergent. Some areas like around windows, light fixtures and other places where I feel may be a chance of
water seeping in to the home, I use a mild detergent with a brush. I have special extension poles to reach those hard to get
to areas. But sometimes everything has to be hand washed due to the condition of the paint.
Q: My home has vinyl siding that is white but with the dirt it looks a greenish brown and my gutters
are black and streaky looking. Can you clean them and get the streaks off the gutters? A: In
most cases, Yes. Sometimes I can't remove the streaks completely but Most of the time, they will look great. I have a
product that eats those streak off in a flash most of the time. The siding will shine like new. However, I sometimes can not
remove Red Clay stains that are set. Also I can't remove paint or Stain from vinyl siding. I also Can Not remove Artillery
Fungus from surfaces other than glass. If it's caught in the early stages, I can remove Most of it but not all. This comes
from Decaying Wood Mulches and is like glue. It won't come off even with High Pressure Washing. Please read the article
from Cornell University concerning this pest on my Services Page.
Q: I have a brick patio on the rear of my home and it has what looks like Mold or Mossy looking stuff that is ugly and
when wet is very slippery. Can you clean this off?
A: In most cases, Yes. Sometimes if the mold or fungus
has been there for a long time, it may not come completely clean with the first cleaning. I recommend applying a cleaner to
these areas at least 1 time a year. If it in a shaded area, it may require more applications.
